About the player
Wei Suowei made history in June 2022 when he made his debut for Guangzhou FC in the Chinese Super League at the age of 17, becoming the first player from Chongzuo to appear in the competition. He had joined the club's youth academy back in 2016.
His early first-team involvement was limited: six Super League appearances in 2022 followed by a single outing in China League One in 2023. Guangzhou then sent him out on loan to Hubei Istar in China League Two for the 2024 season, where he found a regular place in the side, playing 24 league matches and scoring once, while also contributing two goals in four cup appearances.
Wei returned to Guangzhou FC in December 2024. In February 2025 he moved on a free transfer to Qingdao Hainiu, making 14 appearances in the Chinese Super League. A further free transfer followed in January 2026, taking him to Chongqing Tonglianglong, for whom he has made 15 league appearances and two in the FA Cup by August 2026.
At youth international level, Wei has represented China's under-19 side, though he is yet to add a senior cap to his record.
