1860 München U19

Kevin Volland spent four years in the blue and white of the Junglöwen, arriving in the under-19 side in 2007 and leaving in 2011. Moritz Leitner passed through the same corridors over a longer stretch, joining the youth set-up as a boy in 1998 and staying until 2010. Neither played senior football in Munich for long.

The best of the age-group sides came in the middle of the 2000s. The B-Junioren took the German title in 2006, and the DFB-Junioren-Vereinspokal was won in 2000 and again in 2007. Further back, the A-Junioren reached the German championship final in 1983 and lost it to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Home is a grass pitch inside the Grünwalder Straße complex, room for around 2,500.

What happens above the youth teams has a habit of reaching down into them. Licensing failures and insolvency proceedings forced the senior club down in 2017, and again in 2026.

The whole thing began as something else entirely. TSV 1860 München was set up on 17 May 1860 as a gymnastics association; football did not arrive until 6 March 1899, when the department was founded that everything since has grown out of.
