Al-Arabi began in 1945 not as a team but as a club for theatre and music, formed by 22 young men with no ball in mind.

The city calls the club "The Northern Falcons." A single Jordan FA Cup, won in 1986, remains the club's one outright national trophy, and it still stands as the only time a team from Irbid has lifted it. A runners-up finish in the same competition in 2010 was as close as they came again.

They came back this year. Winning the Jordanian First Division League in 2025 sent Al-Arabi back into the top division after twelve years away.

Home games are played in front of a ground that holds 15,000.
