Asker

Before Asker Fotball existed as its own entity, there was Asker Skiklubb, founded in 1889 to organise sport in the town; football stayed under that umbrella until the department split off as an independent club, Asker Fotball, in 2000. The men's side had its best run decades earlier, reaching the Norwegian Cup final in 1951, where it lost to Viking, and following that with semifinal appearances in 1953 and 1955 during a decade spent in the old Hovedserien.

It was the women who gave the club its identity. Between 1987 and 1988, Asker became the first Norwegian club to field both a men's and a women's team in the top flight in the same year, and the women's side went on to win the league six times between 1988 and 1999, including an unbeaten campaign in 1998, adding five Norwegian Cups along the way. Players such as Hege Riise and Linda Medalen wore the shirt during that stretch. The run ended in financial trouble: in 2008 the women's team was transferred to Stabæk Fotball, taking effect for the 2009 season, closing out one of the more successful spells any Norwegian women's side has had.

The club now plays out of Føyka Stadion, known locally as Asker Stadion, in white and black. Local matches against Bærum SK and Frigg Oslo FK carry the weight of geography more than any table position — derbies with no love lost.
