Bhayangkara FC

Officers of the Indonesian police line up for a club that now carries their force's name, and the people who have shaped Bhayangkara FC's story are rarely players — they are the ranks that took the club over, rebuilt it and moved it more than once. It did not start as theirs. Founded in 1999 in West Kutai, Kalimantan, as Persikubar, the club only reached Java in 2010, when a faction from the split inside Persebaya Surabaya bought it and renamed it Persebaya DU. Through 2015 and 2016 the name changed twice more, to Persebaya United and then Bonek FC and Surabaya United, before an April 2016 merger with the police side PS Polri produced Bhayangkara Surabaya United. By September that year the police held full control and stripped the geography from the name altogether: Bhayangkara FC.

The title followed in the club's first season under that identity. Bhayangkara FC won the 2017 Liga 1. A year later it reached the final of the Piala Indonesia and lost it to Persija Jakarta, and in 2020 it took a friendly trophy at the Siem Reap Super Asia Cup.

Since then the club has rarely stayed still. It played out of Bekasi, then Jakarta, then Solo, back to Bekasi, and in 2023 took the name Bhayangkara Presisi Indonesia FC. In April 2025 it moved again, this time to Bandar Lampung on Sumatra, becoming Bhayangkara Presisi Lampung FC and taking up residence at the Stadion Sumpah Pemuda, which holds 7,159. The side known as the Guardians of Saburai wear yellow at home and black away.

Nine years after the police took charge, the club has yet to stay put in one city for more than a couple of seasons at a time.
