EGE Volley České Budějovice

These days the EGE name belongs to the second string at Sportovní hala Stromovka.

VK EGE had run independently before that, in the second-tier 1. Liga from 1998, after Ing. Jan Diviš founded it in 1997 on the rights of the dissolved Meteor České Budějovice. It won that league twice, in 2009 and 2011, and both times turned down promotion to the Extraliga — a choice that kept it apart from the senior České Budějovice side playing under the Jihostroj banner in the top flight.

That senior team is the one the city's volleyball is actually judged by.

Under the EGE name now, the job is different: keep producing players capable of stepping into that senior team's red, black and white rather than adding silverware of its own.
