The team that became Everton Women started life in 1983 as Hoylake W.F.C., passed through a merger with Dolphins YC to become Leasowe Pacific, and only in 1995 joined the Everton fold and took the club's name. Since then it has moved grounds more often than its supporters would like — Rossett Park, Halton Stadium, Haig Avenue, Walton Hall Park — a run of tenancies that ended in 2025, when the men's team departed for the new Everton Stadium and left Goodison Park free. From the 2025/26 season the women's side plays there instead.

The club still goes by The Blues and can point to an FA Women's Cup won as Leasowe Pacific in 1989 before adding a second in 2010. A league title arrived in 1997–98, a League Cup in 2007–08, and the FA WSL 2 Spring Series in 2017 marked the step back up through the divisions.

Few represent that climb better than Megan Finnigan, the current captain.
