Southern Road, tucked away under the name King George V Ground, holds only 1,500 people, and until 2023 almost none of them had a roof over their heads. Two new stands went up that year, adding 150 covered seats.
The club had already been going three decades by then, formed in 1933, and produced its best spell: back-to-back Western League Premier Division titles in 1983–84 and 1985–86, either side of a run to the FA Vase semi-finals in 1984–85. The honours board is filled in blue and white at county level — Devon Senior Cup, Devon Premier Cup, East Devon Senior Cup — with the Morrison Bell Cup turning up again and again across the decades, from 1934 through to 2005.
Kevin Hill, who played for Torquay United before taking charge at Exmouth, has been the man overseeing things more recently.
