«Les Mohéliens»
Mohéli's football runs through one address, and it is not Grande Comore or Anjouan territory: Fomboni, the island's capital, has produced a single club strong enough to matter in the national picture. The club took shape in March 1985, when two local sides, Molaïli and Kaza Sport, merged rather than keep competing against each other for the island's limited pool of players; twenty years on, in 2005, it absorbed another local outfit, Rafal Club, and settled into the form it plays under today.
Fomboni has never dropped out of the Comoros Premier League since that founding. The league title came in 2001–02, in 2014, and again in 2019, with five runner-up finishes stacked around those wins. The 2014 title sent the club into the CAF Champions League preliminary round the following year, where Malawi's Big Bullets eliminated them; a substitute, Tizgolowere Kumwenda, scored the goal that settled the tie.
Domestically, the Coupe des Comores has been harder to land than the league: one win, in 2015, when Fomboni beat Ngaya Club 5–4 on penalties after the match finished 1–1, against four final defeats stretched from 2009 to as recently as 2025. On Mohéli itself none of that suspense applies — the club has won the island championship nineteen times since the 1989–90 season.
The rivalries that carry weight are the ones off the island: Ngaya Club, the Grande Comore side beaten on penalties in that 2015 cup final, and Steal Nouvel of Anjouan, both measuring Fomboni against the two more populous islands every time the Premier League table is drawn up.
