Fortuna Düsseldorf U19

The youth team wears the same red and white as the seniors and belongs to a club founded in 1895, a date the supporters shortened into the nickname F95. That senior history is heavy: a German Championship in 1933, then two DFB-Pokal wins in 1979 and 1980, the second arriving the year after the first.

Klaus Allofs came through in that era. What the academy is asked to do is produce the next one.

The competitive picture changed underneath the team in 2024. Until then the U19s played in the A-Junioren-Bundesliga West, where they finished tenth in the 2023/24 season. From 2024/25 the German federation replaced that structure with the U19-DFB-Nachwuchsliga, and Fortuna were placed in Group H — a different set of opponents, a different route through the calendar, for a squad that had spent years measuring itself against the same regional rivals.

Those rivalries survive the reorganisation. Matches against 1. FC Köln carry the weight of the Cologne–Düsseldorf fixture down through the age groups, and Schalke 04 are the other side the players are told about before they arrive.

What the team has never done is win anything.
