Ghazl El Mahalla open the season back in the Egyptian Premier League, having returned for 2024–25 after their sixth promotion from the Second Division.

The club grew out of the sports section of the Misr Spinning and Weaving Company, the textile mill Talaat Harb founded in El Mahalla El Kubra; the team was formed on 1 October 1936 for factory workers, and only joined the national league proper in the 1956–57 season. The nickname Za'eim El Delta , Boss of the Delta, stuck from the 1970s.

That decade produced the club's one league title, in 1972–73, and a run to the final of the African Cup of Champions Clubs the year after, lost to CARA Brazzaville. Matches against Baladeyet El Mahalla, the other club from the same town, are known locally as the Fury Derby.

In January 2021, Ghazl El Mahalla became the first club in the country to list a football company on the Egyptian Stock Exchange.
