Cairo's football landscape has long been dominated by two giants, and in August 1951 that ambition took shape as National Bank of Egypt FC. The ground had been secured years earlier: the bank decided to buy land in 1946 and completed the purchase in 1948, so by the time the club formally began operations, the site for its future home was already in hand.

That plot became the National Bank of Egypt Stadium in Cairo, still the club's base. The club competes in the Egyptian Premier League, alongside the Egypt Cup and the League Cup.

National Bank of Egypt has never lifted the Premier League title, and no major honour sits in its history to date.
