Lierse Kempenzonen

The club now known as Koninklijke Lierse Sportkring began in September 1943 in Oosterwijk, a village on Lier's edge, as KFC Oosterzonen Oosterwijk. When the old Lierse SK's bankruptcy trustee put the name, the badge, the equipment and the Herman Vanderpoortenstadion up for sale, Oosterzonen's board bought the lot, moved into town and renamed itself Lierse Kempenzonen in June 2018. It kept that name through six seasons in the lower divisions before switching back, in June 2024, to the old Lierse Sportkring title — while keeping its own matriculation number, 3970, a detail that marks it out under Belgian football's registration system as a continuation of Oosterzonen rather than a legal heir to the club whose four league titles and two Belgian Cups stayed behind with number 30.

The 14,538-capacity stadium the club plays in still carries the memory of the old Lierse SK, and none more than Bernard Voorhoof, who scored 350 goals there across a career that made his name synonymous with the ground long before Oosterzonen ever set foot in it.
