Long An

The club's roots go back further than any of that silverware. A provincial amateur side had represented Long An since 1976, and it took the arrival of a local backer, the Đồng Tâm tile company, to push the project onto a professional footing: in 2000 the provincial team merged with the factory's own side to form Đồng Tâm Long An, the identity under which the championships were won. For years that sponsorship gave the club a second nickname, "Gạch" — the Brick — before a switch back to provincial ownership in December 2015 restored the name Long An FC.

Long An Stadium, holding just under 20,000, has stayed the constant through all of it, and the name the province gave the team from the start, Trâu chiến — the War Buffalo, a nod to the region's farming rather than to any opponent — outlasted the sponsors' branding entirely.
