The predecessor clubs never stopped playing under new names, and the last of them to win anything before the merger did it far from home: in 2008/2009, Maccabi Tzur Shalom represented Israel in the UEFA Regions' Cup. Its partner in the eventual merger, Maccabi Ironi Kiryat Ata, had its own moment the same season, lifting the Toto Cup Alef in 2007/2008. Neither club carried that momentum alone for long. On 27 July 2020 the two combined into Maccabi Ironi Kiryat Ata Bialik.
Maccabi Ironi Kiryat Ata itself had been built from an earlier club, Maccabi Acre, reformed in 2000, so the shirt handed down to the merged side — blue with white shorts at home, reversed away — had already passed through one reinvention before this one. There had once been a derby to go with it: Hapoel Kiryat Ata, the old cross-town rival, but that club folded in 1992, and nothing has replaced it since.
Home matches are played at the Kiryat Ata Municipal Stadium, a ground that holds 726 people.
Avi Sabag manages the side now, in Liga Alef North, the third tier of Israeli football — the same tier Tzur Shalom once won its way into on the road to that Regions' Cup campaign. Staying there, and building a history of its own rather than borrowing one from its two halves, is what occupies the club at present.
