Taguig grew up as Manila's financial fringe, a city of glass towers and a large Chinese-migrant community, and it is that community which gave the district its football club. A group of migrants first put together an amateur side in 2017; a year later the investor Sha Shuo turned it into a professional operation, and Manila Digger has carried the connection ever since. The kit stayed yellow and red, the colours of the Chinese flag, and the nickname "The Diggers" has stuck to the club rather than the city.

The Philippines Football League is still young, and Manila Digger has spent its short existence chasing the top of it. A runners-up finish in the 2024–25 season, in both the league table and the Finals Series, was followed by the title itself in 2025–26. That campaign also took the club past the domestic game altogether: Manila Digger reached the semi-finals of the AFC Challenge League, a stage most Philippine clubs never see.

They now play as champions at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, a ground that holds 12,873 in its seats alone.
