Matebele

Matebele FC did not exist when the club they replaced was still playing under a different name. Lame Makache took over the licence of the old Masters Blackpool FC, restructured it from a society into a business company, and went up to the Botswana Premier League for the first time in its history for the 2023–24 campaign.

The promotion put Elias Chinyemba's name alongside the club's. He was the coach who took Matebele up, and by the time the side had settled into its first top-flight season it finished 11th. The Premier League run also brought a different kind of appointment: Reneilwe Letsholonyane, once capped for Bafana Bafana, joined the coaching staff in 2025.

Matebele plays out of The Nest Stadium in Matebeleng, in the Kgatleng District. The nickname, Kuka Ntsu, means Yellow Bird. Local geography gave the club its sharpest fixture: Mochudi Centre Chiefs sit close enough that their meetings are known as the Kgatleng Derby.

Before the league title, there had already been a run to the semi-finals of the Botswana FA Challenge Cup, in the club's first season of existence, 2021–22. Founded in 2021, champions of the First Division South by 2023.
