Mezőörs

Silverware for Mezőörs KSE now comes with a trophy that carries the village name past the county line. In May 2026 the club beat Kelen SC 2–0 at the Illovszky Rudolf Stadion to lift the Hungarian Amateur Cup, a final they reached the hard way after finishing runners-up in the same competition two years earlier, losing to Unione FC on penalties. That defeat had followed a domestic run of its own: in 2023 Mezőörs took the Keglovich László county cup, beating Ásványráró KSE 4–1 in the final, before losing the 2025 rematch for the same trophy to Kapuvári SE on penalties after a 1–1 draw.

None of that explains why a team from the fourth tier of Hungarian football keeps turning up in the later rounds of the MOL Magyar Kupa. In 2023–24 Mezőörs went out to Vasas on penalties in the second round, then knocked out top-flight opposition. They lost 0–3 to Paksi FC in the round of 32, having already dealt with an NB II side to get there. A year later they beat Komáromi VSE 1–0 before Vasas ended the run again, this time 0–3 in the fourth round. The village ground, the Mezőörsi Sportpálya, holds 1,000 people for matches that otherwise draw a fraction of that number.

Some of what has gone into these results predates the current campaigns. Gábor Vayer, who played top-flight football for Paks, Győr and Videoton, and Attila Simon, once an NB I top scorer at Paks, both turned out for the club after their careers higher up the pyramid. Roland Bohner now manages the side, with fixtures against Kapuvári SE and Győrújbarát SE still billed locally as the county's derby. For all the cup pedigree, promotion out of the Győr-Moson-Sopron county league itself has not followed.
