Nykøbing FC

The bear on the club crest is not a metaphor. It comes straight off the Bjørnebrønden fountain in Nykøbing, and it gave the club its nickname long before anyone called it Nykøbing FC.

The name is newer than the football. For decades Nykøbing Falster had two separate clubs, Boldklubben af 1901 and Boldklubben af 1921, each with its own pitch, its own committee, its own version of local pride. In 1994 they stopped competing with each other for players and put out one combined side under the banner Nykøbing Falster Alliancen, while the two parent clubs carried on existing on paper. That arrangement was renamed Lolland-Falster Alliancen in 2006, and it took until 1 July 2013 for the paperwork to catch up with the football: B.1901 and B.1921 formally merged into a single club, Nykøbing FC.

B.1901 is where the trophy case starts. The merged club has had to build its own history from lower down the pyramid, and did it patiently: and then, in 2024/25, the 4th tier title that sent Nykøbing FC back up into the 2nd division.

Home games are played at Lollands Bank Park, a 10,000-capacity ground on Lolland-Falster that has gone by other names — Nykøbing Falster Idrætspark, then CM Arena — as sponsors have come and gone.
