Pinheirense

The furthest Pinheirense ever went in Brazilian football wasn't a men's title at all. In 2017, the club's women's team won the Campeonato Brasileiro Feminino Série A2, the national second division, making Pinheirense one of only three clubs from Pará ever to lift a national trophy. Striker Irley scored ten goals across the campaign, and defender Leila Silva, part of that squad, later went on to win the Campeonato Mineiro Feminino with Atlético Mineiro.

The men's side has had a harder road. Relegated from the Campeonato Paraense's top flight in 2017, it has never won the state's premier division. What it does have is a record of climbing back: the Série A2 in 2016, completed without dropping a point, and the inaugural Série B2 in 2023, sealed 5–4 on penalties against Paraense after a goalless draw.

The club plays out of Icoaraci, a district of Belém, where its closest rival is Santa Rosa, also based in the neighbourhood. Their meetings are known locally as the Clássico de Icoaraci, and for a club without a website, built instead around its Instagram page, the derby is where its identity is most visible. The nickname "General da Vila" comes from Vila Sorriso, the part of Icoaraci where the club is rooted, and the blue and white on the crest replaced the green, white and yellow of the rowing club Pinheirense once was.

That's how it started: on 8 December 1925, workers from the Usina Conceição factory formed a rowing club, and only afterwards did the football department that carries the name today come out of it.
