Scarborough Athletic

When Scarborough F.C. went into liquidation on 20 June 2007 under debts of £2.5 million, it was the Seadog Trust that moved to give the town a club again, registering Scarborough Athletic. They kept the old club's nickname and its all-red kit, a direct carry-over from a side that had won the FA Trophy three times and, in 1987, become the first non-league team to earn automatic promotion to the Football League.

The new club spent its first decade as a tenant, ground-sharing with Bridlington Town at Queensgate Stadium before moving into the Flamingo Land Stadium in July 2017. Promotion arrived through the Northern Premier League Premier Division play-offs in 2022, taking the Seadogs into the National League North. Structural problems with the 3G pitch sent them back to Bridlington for the 2025–26 season, ground-sharing again.

Ryan Blott's 231 goals make him the club's record scorer, but it is Michael Coulson: an academy product of the original Scarborough F.C., he came back to score 104 goals in around 250 appearances for its successor.

Matches against Whitby Town, contested as the East Coast Derby, remain with York City and Bridlington Town also treated as local rivalry. Now back at Queensgate while the Flamingo Land pitch is sorted out, Scarborough Athletic go into the season with National League North status to defend.
