St. Pauli U19

The A-Junioren Bundesliga Nord is where the St. Pauli under-19s make their case each season, and 2023/24 was the closest they have come to the top of it: second, matching a mark set back in 2008/09.

The knockout route has taken them further. In 2021/22 the side reached the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal der Junioren, two rounds beyond the quarter-final exits of 2014/15 and 2022/23.

The trophy they do hold is a local one. In 2019 they won the Oddset-Pokal der A-Junioren, the Hamburg Cup — one in which Hamburger SV are the constant. The Hamburg derby carries down through the age groups.

Youssoufa Moukoko spent 2014 to 2016 in the academy before leaving Hamburg, and the pathway has since sent through Igor Matanović and Franz Roggow. Further back, Karim Guédé came through the same set-up across six years from 1996.
