Tekstilshchik

The stadium in Ivanovo carries the club's own name — Tekstilshchik holds 9,565 and has been home ground since the team's earliest years, a fitting arrangement for a side that grew out of the city's textile mills and still wears that lineage in its name.

Founded on 6 August 1937, the club took the field for decades as a Soviet-era factory team before republic and national competitions gave it a chance to test itself further afield. The high point came in 1940, when Tekstilshchik beat Moscow's Torpedo 4-2 in the final to lift the Cup of the RSFSR — a result that still stands as the clearest marker of what the club has managed against bigger-city opposition. A second cup followed in 1986, against Torpedo of Rubtsovsk, this time in the competition reserved for second-tier sides.

Promotion and relegation have shaped the club's more recent story more than any single trophy. Tekstilshchik topped the Second Division's western zone in 2006, playing that season as Tekstilshchik-Telecom, and did so again in 2018/19, a result that carried the club into the Russian Football National League. Three seasons followed there — 2018/19 through 2020/21 — with 15th place in 2020/21 marking the best of the three. Before any of that, in Soviet football, the club's furthest reach was seventh place in the First League in 1971.

What the club has not done is establish itself at that second tier for any real stretch, or push higher still. Three seasons in the National League came and went without a return trip, and the wait for another run at that level continues.
