Ulytau

Metallurg holds 6,500 people in Zhezkazgan, a copper town in the Ulytau region, and it is where the club plays every home fixture on Mira Avenue. The ground had been sitting on the city's football calendar long before the current tenants existed, and it still carries the name of the industry that built the region — a nod also present in Kazakhmys, the mining corporation that backed the club's creation.

Ulytau was formed in 2022 at the initiative of the regional akimat and Kazakhmys, timed to the creation of the new Ulytau region itself. It is, legally, a fresh club rather than a continuation of anything, though Zhezkazgan had fielded football teams under various names — Metallurg, Enbek, Gornyak, Dzhezkazganets — from 1965 until the last of them folded in 2001. Under the Gornyak name, the city's team won the Kazakh SSR championship and cup in 1971, a detail the new club inherited only as local memory, not as a legal claim.

The current side climbed fast. It won the Second League in its first campaign in 2023, then finished as runner-up in the First League in 2024, earning back-to-back promotions into the Premier League. Its top-flight results settled into mid-table: 10th place in 2025, 7th in 2026.

Sergei Keiler captains the squad, with Dmitri Nepogodov in goal and Nurken Mazbaev in charge on the touchline. Ulytau's fixtures against Elimai of Semey draw the label "derby" in the local press, though nothing official ties the two clubs beyond the rivalry itself; matches against Kaspiy of Aktau carry similar weight in the Premier League table.

Four years separate the club's founding from a top-flight finish of 7th.
