Waltham Abbey

Capershotts sits on Sewardstone Road, on the southern edge of the Essex town, and it holds 3,500.

The club came out of a youth club. In 1944, players from the Waltham Abbey Youth Club joined up with a handful of former Tottenham Hotspur juniors, and the side that resulted lost three Herts Junior Cup finals, one of them 5–4 to Redbourn Rovers. The first trophy took until 1976, a 1–0 win over Maldon St Mary's in the Essex Junior Cup.

Two seasons stand out from what followed. In 1998–99 the club won the London Senior Cup, beating Bedfont 3–2, and took the Spartan South Midlands Challenge Trophy in the same year, 3–0 over Holmer Green across two legs. Then 2004–05, when three cups came at once: the Essex Senior League Cup, the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy and the Middlesex Millenium Cup.

Promotion arrived in 2009, and it arrived the hard way. The Isthmian League Division 1 North play-off final against Concord Rangers went to penalties, and Waltham Abbey came through 5–4.

The most recent trip to a play-off final ended differently. In 2023–24 the club reached the decider for the Southern League Central Division and lost 1–2 to Bedford Town.
