Zagorec

The season that put Zagorec on a bigger map was 2021/22, when the club climbed out of the county football it had known for most of its life.

Founded in 1908 in Krapina, the club has stayed in the same corner of the Zagorje hills for over a century, playing out of ŠRC Podgora in dark blue. The ground is modest, and the crowd that fills it is smaller still, led by a supporters' group known as the Šumski gujdeki. What higher-level football the club has seen mostly came looking for it: a Hrvatski nogometni kup draw once brought NK Graničar Kotoriba to Krapina, a fixture that would not have happened had Zagorec stayed down among the leagues where it spent most of its history.
