Akademiya Sporta
Tyumen, Russia
Formerly: Spartak
It is not the city’s oldest ground, but it is the one that has seen the most change. The concrete shell you see today is the result of a rebuild that dragged on for a decade, closing the original doors in 2001 and reopening them in 2011. The playing surface is artificial turf, fitted with heating. The capacity is smaller than it used to be, trimmed down from the original sixteen thousand to just over thirteen thousand. The stadium has hosted things other than football. A biathlon 'Race of Champions' took place in 2016, and a hockey 'Russian Classic' arrived in 2019. The highest attendance recorded was thirteen thousand during the 2018 Russian Premier League season, though that number might simply reflect the full house. The name of the ground has changed once. It began as Spartak and became Geolog, but the building itself remained.
