Arena Randers
Randers, Denmark
Formerly: Randershallen, Elro Arena, Skyline Arena
Arena Randers does not look like a football ground from the outside. It looks like a place for things that happen in a box.
The complex grew over time. The oldest part is the Annex Hall, which was built in 1952. The main hall came later, in 1972, when the town decided to put money into a bigger space. The new Arena 1 was built much more recently, completing work in 2020. This last addition is the one that fits most people, holding 3,402 for sports or 6,000 if the stage is set up. The original 1952 hall still sits there with its 50 seats.
People do not come here for football. The local club plays at a separate ground with a natural grass surface. The teams that play inside are the handball sides, Randers HK and Randers HH, along with the basketball team, Randers Cimbria. It bounces off the walls.
The name has changed more than once. It was known as Randershallen for a long time. Then it became Elro Arena, then Skyline Arena. 2020 brought the current name, Arena Randers, and a new look for the main entrance.
