Blue Water Arena

The concrete stands curve around the pitch at Blue Water Arena. Two floodlight towers rise above the roofline, framing the reach of the grandstands. The main stand features a glass façade that reflects the sky, a modern addition to a structure that has been in use since 1955.

The ground sits within the Esbjerg Idrætspark complex. The 2008–2009 renovation reshaped the exterior, bringing in tonnes of steel and concrete to replace the open-air sections with covered seating. This work gave the venue its current two-story configuration.

Esbjerg fB have played their home matches here for decades, and the stadium’s most famous moment came long before the sponsorship deal that brought the Blue Water name. A crowd of 22,000 packed the terraces in 1961 to watch a championship match against Kjøbenhavns Boldklub.

Rather than a purely football venue, the presence of the athletics track suggests a multi-purpose history that has not been entirely erased by the rebuild. A large video screen hangs above one of the stands, a feature added during the recent renovations alongside the new VIP and press areas.
