The Trud Sports Palace in Irkutsk sits on a corner site where 48 Lenin Street meets 12 Karl Marx Street. The original Avangard Stadium burned down in 1951, and the new structure, including the Sports Palace, rose from the ashes between 1951 and 1957. The palace itself was put into operation in 1976.
The fixed seating capacity for sports events is 1,340, though the total capacity for standing room during concerts and mass events stretches to approximately 2,000. The playing surface for ice events is artificial ice.
The venue serves as a major hub for sports and cultural events in the Kirovsky District. It hosts ice hockey, figure skating, basketball, volleyball, and futsal. The name 'Trud' has been used since the late 1950s, inherited from the stadium that replaced Avangard. There are no known sponsor-related name changes for the Sports Palace itself.
The venue was a main site for the 2020 World Bandy Championship, which was postponed to 2022. It also hosted the 2024 Russian Boxing Championship. Beyond sport, the hall stages numerous concerts by artists such as Ani Lorak, Vadim Samoylov, and Surganova i Orkestr. The architect of the Sports Palace is V. Shmatkov.
