Almost everything about this ground follows from where it sits: at Alcochete. The stand holds a shade over a thousand, and most of what happens on the pitch is watched by coaches, scouts and parents rather than by supporters who bought a ticket.

The name belongs to Aurélio Pereira, the scout whose work shaped what the academy became; putting it on the stadium rather than on a building says something about how the club reads its own history. The academy itself has changed name since the ground opened in June 2002 — it now carries Cristiano Ronaldo's name, and before that ran under several titles tied to the club's football centre.

What the ground does is carry the weight of a full development pyramid. Sporting CP B play here, as do the club's women's side and the youth teams, which means the fixture list runs almost continuously through the season across several competitions at once. That load told on the surface. In September 2025 the natural grass was replaced with a hybrid pitch, the standard answer when one field has to take that many matches and training sessions without cutting up badly by midwinter.

For a visiting side it is an unusual afternoon: no away end to speak of, a pitch in first-team condition, and opponents who train on it daily. Alcochete is a quiet town, and the complex sits on its edge, signposted from the Abrunheiro junction.
