Estadio Campeones Olímpicos

Florida's ground carries a name few stadiums anywhere can claim: Estadio Campeones Olímpicos, set down in a departmental capital some 90 kilometres north of Montevideo. It opened in 1927, which puts it among the ten oldest football grounds still in use in the country, and the years since have left their mark less through demolition than through patient upkeep — the municipality of Florida owns and runs the place, and it was the town hall that oversaw a refurbishment costing around two million dollars, unveiled to the public with a concert by Matías Valdez rather than a ribbon-cutting ceremony alone.

For most of this century it has been a tenant's ground more than a fortress. El Tanque Sisley called it home from 2012 to 2018, and Boston River took over in 2019, giving Florida a permanent top-flight presence it had lacked before. That arrangement has occasionally pulled in visitors bigger than the town itself expects: Peñarol has played here more than once in recent seasons, beating Boston River 3-1 in April 2024 during the Torneo Apertura.

Cup football brought its own occasion in October 2025, when Plaza Colonia and Racing met here in the semi-final of the Copa AUF Uruguay. Further back, in 1938 and 1943, the ground staged friendlies between Montevideo's Peñarol and the local side that once bore the same name, matches Peñarol won comfortably on both occasions.
