Estádio Comendador Henrique Amorim

The ground in Santa Maria de Lamas does not announce itself with a grand facade. It sits quietly on Rua Murtórios. The club, Clube de Futebol União de Lamas, grew from this donation. Built through community effort led by founder Bernardino Gomes, the pitch was first called "Campo da Tapadinha" before becoming "Campo do Carrascal." It took the name Estádio Comendador Henrique Amorim only after the benefactor and Grupo Amorim founder was honoured.

Inauguration in 1930 marks the start of its football life, though some records point to 1932 for the first official match coinciding with the club's formal founding. The surface is natural grass. Capacity matters less here than the history packed into ninety minutes. Reports vary, with figures ranging from 9,000 to 12,000, but the crowd size is never the story. The real memory comes from 1995.

That year, the stadium hosted a UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification match between Portugal U-21 and England U-21. The hosts won 2–0. The pitch remains the same, though the visitors have changed. Non-football events occasionally fill the space, such as the "Polarize Day 2025" poker event, but the football is what defines the place.

There is no official website for the club, and no single address is universally accepted—Rua Murtórios 445 or Rua da Salgueirinha 114 are both cited. This ambiguity suits a ground that has survived without fanfare. It is not a temple of football, nor a legendary site. It is simply the home of União de Lamas, a place where local history is kept in the grass and the stands. The only thing that changes is the team in the dressing room.
