Stadium
Estadio La Eragudina
Astorga, Spain
Formerly: Campo del Frente de Juventudes
Astorga is a small city in León province, and its stadium answers to two names, both of them telling.
The opening itself is worth pausing on. The pitch hosted its first match on 23 July 1944, CD Astorga beating Deportivo Bañezano 5-2, though the formal inauguration ceremony did not follow until 12 September that year — a gap of nearly two months between the ball first being kicked and the ribbon being cut.
Little else marks La Eragudina out from the dozens of similar grounds scattered across Castile and León: a natural grass pitch, refreshed in 2006.
