Atlético Astorga

Astorga is a small city in León province. What is now Atlético Astorga did not begin under that name. It traces back to a side called Astorga Club de Fútbol, whose first match was played on 23 July 1943, before the club registered formally the following year, in 1944. That original club later took the name Club Deportivo Astorga, and it folded in 1972 under the weight of debt. What replaced it had already existed for a few years as a youth side, formed in November 1969; in August 1973 its statutes were changed to let it compete as a senior team, and it carried on the city's football under the Atlético Astorga name.

The club plays in green shirts with white shorts and white socks, at the Estadio La Eragudina, which holds 3,000. Its honours have mostly come at regional level — Primera Regional titles won as both CD Astorga and Atlético Astorga through the decades — but the club's best-known result came far more recently: in 2024/25, Atlético Astorga won Group 8 of Tercera Federación, earning promotion to Segunda Federación.
