Deportivo La Coruña II

Promotion to Primera RFEF is the reward for topping Group 1 of Segunda RFEF in 2025/26, and it takes the reserve side of Deportivo La Coruña into the third tier of Spanish football for 2026/27.

Home is not Riazor but Ciudad Deportiva de Abegondo, the training complex outside the city, where matches are played on the main pitch. A club going into the third division without a stadium of its own is the ordinary condition of a reserve side.

Xisco passed through here in the mid-2000s on the way to the first team and later to Newcastle United, which is roughly the purpose of the place. What the Fabril produces is not results but players, and the results are what let the players be seen.

The link to Deportivo was formalised in 1948 and completed in 1963, when a merger with Club Deportivo Juvenil made the team an official feeder side. The blue and claret of the original club went at that point, replaced by the white and blue of the parent and its crest. Legal independence lasted until 1993, when Spanish law on reserve teams changed and the Fabril was absorbed entirely into the structure at La Coruña.

It began as something else altogether: Fabril Foot-ball Club, founded on 21 February 1914 as a club in its own right, with no first team above it and no obligation to send anyone upstairs.
