Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes

Kempes was built from scratch for a World Cup. It went up in Chateau Carreras between 1976 and 1978, opened under the plain name Estadio Córdoba, and hosted group and second-round matches at the 1978 tournament — but locals had already started calling it Chateau Carreras. The legislature only made the switch formal in 2010, renaming it for Mario Alberto Kempes.

The rebuild for the 2011 Copa América changed the ground more than the name change did: the pitch and running track were sunk four metres, the old scoreboards gave way to video screens, and the east stand gained a second tier under cover while the ends were rebuilt steep and single-tiered. The reopened stadium got straight back to work, taking three group games and a quarter-final that same Copa América.

No club actually calls Kempes home in the ordinary sense — Talleres plays there because its own ground, La Boutique, is too small, and Belgrano, Instituto and Racing de Córdoba have all used it too, alongside the Argentina national football and rugby sides. Copa Argentina finals in 2015 and 2016, the 2015 Supercopa Argentina, and Copa Sudamericana finals in 2021 and 2022.
