Estadio Municipal Carlos Belmonte

The name on the ground belongs to the man who drew it. Carlos Belmonte González was mayor of Albacete from 1956 to 1960 and the architect of the stadium that opened on 9 September 1960. It has carried that name ever since — no sponsor, no rebranding.

What arrived in 1960 was a municipal all-purpose ground: a running track ringing the pitch, room for around 10,000, and spectators kept at arm's length from the football. The changes came piecemeal. Floodlights went up in 1970, allowing night matches; a roof reached over the west stand in 1979. Promotion to the Primera División pushed the pace, and in the summer of 1991 a two-tier east stand with a cantilevered roof took capacity to 14,000, half of it seated.

The ground as it stands now dates from 1998, when the track was finally lifted, the pitch dug down below street level and new stands on the north, west and south sides brought hard against the touchlines. Capacity settled at 17,524. A 2017 refit under the club's owners, Skyline International, went no further than the VIP boxes, press area, dressing rooms and tunnels; the bowl itself was left alone.

Between matches the ground has taken concerts, among them Sting in 2006 and Maná a year later, and it staged the Copa del Rey rugby final on 22 April 2021. The city owns the stadium; Albacete Balompié, whose home before 1960 was the Parque de los Mártires, runs it.
