Estadio Víctor Antonio Legrotaglie
Mendoza, Argentina
Formerly: no official name (1934-1975)
What makes the ground different is the space between the stands and the pitch. A pit runs around the grass, a decision made during the 2011 refurbishment to remove the fence that used to separate the players from the crowd.
The stadium has always been open to the sky. It was the first in Mendoza province to install a complete lighting system, back in 1943, long before floodlights became standard across the country. The ground has also hosted events outside football, including gatherings for the Fiesta Nacional de la Vendimia in the mid-1930s.
Inside the perimeter, the atmosphere is contained. The pitch itself is natural grass, though an auxiliary field with artificial turf was added during the later renovations. For big games, temporary tubular stands are added, but they remain separate from the main structure.
