Euregio-Sporthalle

The Euregio-Sporthalle does not announce itself with the scale of a football theatre. It is a municipal hall at Unter den Eichen 6, where the Euregio-Gymnasium sits nearby. The building itself is unassuming. It is not the kind of place that turns heads on a Sunday afternoon.

What makes the hall different from the other indoor venues in the region is the quiet history it holds. Built to serve a local community, it was already in use by 1978. That year, the hall did something far more unusual. It hosted the 26th World Pigeon Exhibition, an event that brought 40,000 visitors and 14,000 birds to the small city. It was a record for the time, a moment when the town's attention turned entirely to the birds.

Today, the atmosphere is quieter. The stands, which hold 464 spectators, are usually filled for volleyball. The TuB Bocholt team plays here in the 2. Bundesliga Nord, and the players know the space well. Boxing bouts are also held here, drawing around 300 fans who watch the fighters in the ring. The hall has no website of its own; bookings are managed through the City of Bocholt's Sports Administration.
