Habo Arena

Strawberry Arena sits on a site that has seen three lives. AIK Fotboll moved into the new ground in 2013, following a project that began on a December morning in 2009. The architects were Berg Arkitektkontor, Arkitekterna Krook & Tjäder and Populous, while PEAB pulled the strings on the build. The cost settled at 2.8 billion SEK, roughly €300 million.

None of that belongs to the football ground, so it stays out of the story.

Inside, the pitch is natural grass, kept in condition by an advanced LED grow lighting system — Strawberry Arena SGL LED440 units — because the retractable roof can open or close in about 15 minutes.

The name has shifted twice since opening day, October 27, 2012. It started as Swedbank Arena, became Friends Arena in 2012, and took on the Strawberry Arena moniker in 2024. The capacity remains unclear in the available records, though a different venue entirely called Habo Arena once drew 1,025 people for an indoor floorball match — a figure that tells us nothing about the Solna ground.
