The ground in Älvsjö sits in a working-class corner of Söderort, a district defined by its commuter trains and local teams rather than glamour. Älvsjö IP is exactly the sort of place a Stockholm resident knows by heart: a patch of artificial turf surrounded by a low concrete wall and a handful of metal benches. It lacks the grandstands of the Allsvenskan, offering instead a direct line of sight from the touchline to the pitch. The surface is synthetic, a practical choice for the Swedish climate that allows play to continue through the long winter months when natural grass would be dormant.

The venue is best remembered for the women's side that played there between 2003 and 2007. Djurgården/Älvsjö, a brief merger of two clubs, turned the modest ground into a fortress. They won the league in 2003 and 2004, and in 2005 they pushed to the final of the UEFA Women's Cup, carrying the hopes of a city on their shoulders. The crowd for those European nights was likely to be smaller than a typical club final, but the quality of the football was undeniable. Since that era ended, the ground has returned to its quieter roots, hosting the men's team of Älvsjö AIK and local floorball tournaments.

A renovation finished in 2021 modernised the facilities without altering the character of the site. The capacity is listed at 3,000 by some guides, though the standing area rarely fills more than a fraction of that on a Saturday afternoon. The address, Älvsjö Idrottsväg 2, is tucked away from the main thoroughfares, requiring a short walk through the residential streets to find the entrance. It is a functional space, maintained by the city and managed by the local club, serving the community without pretence.
