Älvsjö AIK Women

Älvsjö AIK's women's side plays its football in Division 1 Mellersta, the third tier of the Swedish game. Home matches are at Älvsjö IP, a ground in the south of Stockholm that holds 3,000.

The football section was carved out as its own entity in 1993, though the parent club dates back to May 1915. What followed came quickly: five straight Damallsvenskan titles from 1995 to 1999. That run made Älvsjö the reference point in Swedish women's football for half a decade, and it was built around players who also carried the national team — Victoria Sandell Svensson among them, later joined in that squad by Jane Törnqvist and Sara Thunebro.

The cup came three times, but the 1992 win is the odd one out: it arrived before the section formally existed, won under the club's banner in the years leading up to the split.

The last chapter at the top was not played under the club's own name. Älvsjö merged with Djurgården IF, and the combined side — Djurgården/Älvsjö — took the Swedish championship in 2003 and again in 2004. When the arrangement ended, Älvsjö went back to the lower divisions and has stayed there. The blue and white shirts remained; the squad that had won everything did not.

The Djurgården connection is what still shapes how the club is seen in Stockholm. For two seasons the two were the same team, and the titles from those years sit in both sets of records. Everything Älvsjö won on its own it won before that merger, in a decade when the rivals it beat were the ones it later joined.
