Oriam National Performance Centre

Oriam stands as a distinct departure from the traditional football ground. Where most clubs find their home in brick and mortar built for crowds, this facility in Edinburgh is engineered for performance. The structure itself is the primary feature: a vast, climate-controlled dome.

Inside, the space is defined by its scale and its surface. The indoor pitch is described as the largest of its kind in Europe. The turf is not natural grass but a woven synthetic, fitted with shockpads. It is this surface that dictates the rhythm of the game here. Teams that train at Oriam must adapt; the ball moves differently on the synthetic pitch, and the impact of a tackle is harder.
