It was a club from Musselburgh — Musselburgh Windsor Ladies — that Heart of Midlothian bought in 2009. The name changed twice: Hearts Ladies at the start, Hearts Women from 2018.
In 2024 they reached a Scottish Women's Cup final for the first time, beating Spartans 3-0 in the semi before losing to Rangers at the last step.
The 2025-26 SWPL 1 title arrived on an afternoon when Hearts lost. Hibernian beat them; Glasgow City, the only side who could still catch them, lost to Rangers on the same day, and the championship was Edinburgh's.
Emma Brownlee signed the first full professional contract in the club's history in 2022, a defender who had come from Rangers. The squad she joined has drawn players from further afield since.
Home is the Oriam National Performance Centre on the Heriot-Watt University campus, a synthetic pitch with room for 500 and nowhere to sit down.
