The ground sits in the Jinniu District of Chengdu. The surface is natural grass, which is standard for the top flight of the Chinese Super League, where Chengdu Rongcheng F.C. have played their home games since the facility became operational.
The stadium has already played host to serious fixtures. It hosted the 2021 Chinese FA Cup Final, which was played in January 2022, and has seen two matches involving the China national team. The venue is part of a wider sports park, which also includes an arena that hosted basketball for the Summer World University Games, though those events took place a year after the football stadium opened.
