Sporthalle Marieburger Höhe
Hildesheim, Germany
The building itself is new, finished in August 2024, but it was not a renovation. It was constructed from scratch, a three-court hall. The roof carries a full photovoltaic system.
Inside, the space is divided. Up to 400 people fit inside the main hall, while another 200 crowd onto the upper-level grandstand. The total capacity is small, barely 600. The primary user here is Team 48 Hildesheim, the women’s volleyball team that plays in the 2. Volleyball Bundesliga. Grundschule Auf der Höhe and Oskar-Schindler-Gesamtschule use the courts when the games are not in season, and MTV 1848 Hildesheim turns up for local events. No former names exist for the place; it was built new and has always been called Sporthalle Marienburger Höhe, even if some sources spell it Marieburger.
The hall was opened by the Lord Mayor, Dr. There are no attendance records to point to, no moments that made the news. It is a place for volleyball, nothing more. It is simply a hall in Hildesheim where a team plays its games, day in and day out.
