Stade Urukundo

The pitch at Стад Урукундо belongs to a football academy, not a city or a club. It sits in the commune of Мвумба, at Буйе, out beyond Нгози itself, and it came with the academy «Ле Мессажер» founded by the late president Пьер Нкурунзиза.

On 7 March the ground staged a CAF Confederation Cup round-of-32 tie between «Олимпик Стар Муйинга» and the Sudanese side «Эль Хилаль Обейд», goalless, watched by the president and the first lady. Two months later, on 12 May, Бурунди and Судан drew 1:1 there in an Africa U-20 Cup qualifier, and the same year the venue took matches of the CECAFA U-17 championship. Two years earlier it had held the final of the Burundian President's Cup, «Ле Мессажер Нгози» beating «Виталь'О» on penalties after a 1:1 draw; in 2020 the Burundian Super Cup went to «Мусонгати ФК» here.

Then it stopped. In March 2021 the ground was closed to international fixtures for failing CAF and FIFA requirements. What remains is domestic: «Ле Мессажер Нгози» and «Нгози Сити» both play their home matches on the synthetic surface.
