Taipei Gymnasium
Taipei, Taiwan
The capacity is not massive, capped at 2,300 visitors. This number is split between two distinct zones: one side holds 1,340 seats for ball games, while the other offers 1,000 for badminton. The venue does not serve as the permanent home for a single professional club. Instead, it hosts the Chinese Taipei national basketball and volleyball teams for matches such as the William Jones Cup. Local Super Basketball League sides, including the Taiwan Beer Hero Bears, have also used the space for home games or warm-ups. The building opened in 1994 and underwent a significant renovation in 2008.
It is easy to confuse the place with the defunct Taipei Municipal Gymnasium, but the two are different. The venue also hosts judo and taekwondo events, such as the Taipei Asian Judo Open. The official website is hosted by the Taipei City Government Department of Sports. It is a functional hall, not a monument, where local leagues and national teams share the court without a permanent tenant.
