Chippa United snatch narrow win at Camelriver
Chippa United took all three points from TS Galaxy with a 1-0 victory in the Premier League regular season seventh round at Camelriver Stadium on Saturday. K. Majadibodu struck in the 62nd minute to decide a match where the visitors showed greater efficiency. Galaxy had more possession but failed to create a single big chance, while Chippa converted their only clear opportunity.
And here's the thing — the turning point came when the hosts pushed forward in search of an equaliser. Chippa sat deep and soaked it up, waiting for the space to appear. When it did, Majadibodu found the net and they saw it out. The visitors were dangerous on the break, and one mistake ends it when teams play with this much pressure.
There were several substitutions across the second half as both sides tried to change the momentum. Sammy Seabi came off just before half-time, and N. Mlotshwa replaced him early in the second period. Galaxy brought on T. Kakora and Thabelo Tshikweta together in the 68th minute, while Chippa responded with changes of their own. Azola tshobeni was eventually replaced by Justice Figuareido in the 83rd minute.
By then the yellow cards had mounted up. Goodman Mosele received the first booking in the 46th minute, followed by Azola tshobeni shortly after. Siphesihle Tati and Ibrahim Bance joined the list later, with the latter booked in injury time. The disciplinary record reflects a match that grew increasingly physical as Galaxy sought to find their way back into contention.
Galaxy dominated possession at 56 per cent but registered only one shot on target compared to Chippa's four. The hosts created zero big chances while the visitors managed one. Total passes were 401 for Galaxy against 314 for Chippa, but accuracy tells a different story — the visitors were sharper when it mattered. Shots off target were seven for Chippa against two for the hosts, suggesting they were willing to take risks.
The result leaves Galaxy in 11th place with six points from six games, one win and three draws. Chippa sit 12th with five points, having now collected five draws from six matches. Neither side is far from trouble, but this victory gives the visitors something to build on. We had backed Galaxy at 49 per cent confidence, but the match went another way — a single moment of quality from Chippa proved decisive.
